OtterSMP Rules
To ensure that everyone has a toxic-free, safe and enjoyable environment these rules are here to help! If you have any questions please open up a ticket in and we'll be glad to clarify these rules for you.
▪ 1. Rules will change >>> This is more of a statement but rules can change at any given time to prevent loopholes and to reinforce our core values are being respected.
▪ 2. Only Verified Links >>>We cannot verify every link that is sent in any chat. All verified links can be found in
▪ 3. English Only >>>We respect your ethnicity and your culture. However to ensure that our moderation team can remove malicious messages every message must be in English or a form of it.
▪ 4. Exploiting Loopholes >>>We are not perfect. Our rules are not perfect. Our goal is to be a platform of fun, support and love. Not hate. "🤓Well actually Rule 42069 doesn't state this. So I'm allow-" no. That's not how it works.
▪ 5. NSFW 18+ Content >>>Please keep all conversations, images, links, and innuendos to be safe. This will include in-game builds/signs/item names/skins.
▪ 6. Unsolicited DMs >>>No spam messaging people and be disruptive in their DMs.
▪ 7. Edating >>>You may find relationships on the server but please keep the edating to a minimum. Not everybody is comfortable with you "uwu"ing with each other in the Discord. DMs is where you should do it!
▪ 8. Disrespect & Hate & Judgement >>>Do NOT harass, insult, degrade, excessively mock or disturb anyone ANYWHERE on OtterSMP. We are a platform of love and understanding. We accept everyone and we are LGBTQIA+ friendly.
▪ 9. Arguments & Drama >>>Drama and arguments should be kept to a minimum in a public space. Please take all of your drama and arguments to DMs.
▪ 10. Spam >>>Everyone knows and hates spam. Please keep it to a minimum. This includes low quality posting memes, emojis, copypastas and the like.
▪ 11. Punishment Evasion + Aiding Evasion >>>Do not try to get around our punishments. They're there for a reason. Aiding the punished user by sending messages for them will be punished.
▪ 12. DDOS/DOX/Hacking/Swatting >>>This is absolutely NOT allowed anywhere and even jokes will be treated severely.
▪ 13. Staff Harassment >>>We will NOT take any harassment or hate for our staff. No matter which department. A staff member has the final interpretation of our rules, if you have an issue with the decision please open a ticket in
▪ 14. Griefing/Insiding >>>Betrayal and griefing has been a thing since Minecraft came out. We are NOT responsible for you trust to your claim and action may or may not be taken depending on the situation however. This is looked down upon.
▪ 15. Advertising >>>Messages, Links, Images, DMs, In-game Items, and Signs advertising is not allowed.
▪ 16. Illegal Modifications >>>Lunar, Optifine, and Vanilla Minecraft are recommended. We will not allow autoclickers, auto placing schematica, illegal resourcepacks like xray, and any mods that would give you an advantage.
▪ 17. Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Transphobia >>>We have a 0 tolerance policy and this will get you swiftly banned.
▪ 18. Bug/Glitch Abuse >>>We have a 0 tolerance policy to obvious abusers and exploiters. In extreme cases your character and claims might be reset.
▪ 19. TP Trapping/Waystone Trapping >>>Trapping players or intentionally killing them when they do NOT have PvP enabled is not allowed.
▪ 20. Minecraft Accounts >>>You may only have TWO Minecraft accounts. Evasion through IP addresses, spoofers, and other means will result in bans. Siblings, roommates, and couples living under the same household might be subject to a ticket to verify.
▪ 21. Large Lag Machines >>>Machines are allowed, however large machines that are hurting the server's performance due to their scale will be removed by staff. Staff members are allowed to determine the impact of said machine.
▪ 22. Theft >>> Players are not allowed to engage with theft of any kind. Theft can be interpreted as stealing or taking without consent
▪ 23. Modifications >>> Client, Software, or Hardware modifications that cannot be obtained by normal players are prohibited. Special clicking methods can also fall under this rule. OtterSMP has full jurisdiction. Please open a ticket if you'd like specific clarification.
▪ 24. Terms of Service >>> Please follow the Discord terms of service as well as Minecraft's EULA
▪ 25. Evasion of Punishment >>> Players are not allowed to evade any punishments whether through different platforms, gameplay mechanics, or accounts
▪ 26. Illegal Trading >>> Players are not allowed to trade, sell, or buy any items or services tied with real world monetary value.
▪ 27. Malicious Intent >>> Players are not allowed to purposefully act or be accomplices of malicious intent. Scamming, insiding, baiting, false bidding, gameplay abuse, or server related abuse.
▪ 28. Obstruction of Evidence >>> Players are fully allowed to decline any 3rd party or OtterSMP staff member from viewing their hardware or software. However evidence will be obstructed and may result in unwanted outcomes.
▪ **28. **Allowed Languages >>> Every language is allowed in PRIVATE channels of communication. English is the only language allowed in public channels of communication for moderation purposes.
▪ 29. No Suggestive Content >>> Players are not allowed to post or engage in suggestive content. OtterSMP has full jurisdiction on this matter.
▪ 30. Media >>> Only official members of the Media team approved by OtterSMP may advertise their social media links.
▪ 31. Impersonation >>> Any form of impersonation will not be allowed. This rule extends to all staff, players and social media personalitites.
▪ 32. Leaking >>> Any form of leaking privately accessed information pertaining to players and OtterSMP is prohibited. Things that would fall under this rule: IPV4 addresses, Housing Locations, OtterSMP assets, Private Messages or Images, and any Personal documents.
▪ 33. Unintentional Design >>> OtterSMP has the authority to patch, remove or change any designs of OtterSMP at any time. Discovery of unintentional designs would sometimes yield in a reward from management.
▪ 34. Reimbursement >>> OtterSMP is not obligated to reimburse every player or every single time that a technical issue occurs. OtterSMP is committed to the player experience but we sometimes will choose to refuse reimbursement under extreme circumstances.
▪ 35. Claims >>> Players are suggested to build in open ended areas where claims are not nearby. However OtterSMP has the full jurisdiction to move or remove any claim that has been made or expanded for the earliest claim in the question.
▪ 36. Alt Gameplay >>> Any gameplay mechanics that are able to be bypassed (ie. stalls) is prohibited. OtterSMP has the right to determine what would fall under this rule.
▪ 37. Main Rule Set >>> Whilst we try to update the rules as much as possible on every platform we sometimes miss things. As such, the rules on Discord override every other rule list.
